| Breaking News |  | Monday, June 15th, 2015: Brown Week's Top Player 23-year-old P.J. Brown made a few Shreveport headlines during this past week as the rookie right fielder proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and Sub League 1 officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort.
He cracked 9 hits in 19 at-bats to put up a .474 average. Brown collected 2 home runs, 4 RBIs and scored 5 runs.
Brown is batting .292 this year with 3 home runs, 28 RBIs and 35 runs scored. He has 70 hits in 240 at-bats. |  | Wednesday, June 3rd, 2015: Shreveport Loses Román, Will Miss Season The season is apparently over for Julián Román. The Shreveport Elephants medical staff informed the club that the starting pitcher will be out at least 11 months with a herniated disc. Román was hurt in the game against Madison while throwing a pitch. The doctors did not think he would recover prior to the end of the season.
This season Román has compiled a 5-5 mark, 3.07 ERA and made 13 starts. |  | Friday, May 15th, 2015: Mesa Blanks Shreveport Lyndhurst hurler Mario Mesa put on quite a show today as he blitzed the Shreveport Elephants with a 6-0 shutout. He baffled them with fastballs and changeups, allowing 4 hits with 4 strikeouts and 2 walks to pick up the win.
The opposing manager told reporters after the game, "I think every time we were looking for a fastball, he threw a changeup and every time we were looking for a changeup, he threw a fastball."
