| Breaking News | | Wednesday, September 17th, 2014: Sáenz 5-5 Against Tri-City Lyndon Sáenz exploded for a barrage of base hits today at Pennant Field. The Lowell center fielder had a field day against the Tri-City ValleyCats, finishing with a 5-5 day and a spot in the record book.
"It's a shame that we lost the game. It's really hard to enjoy what I did today," he said, lamenting the 8-6 loss. "You would think 5 hits would do it."
Asked about his great day, he replied, "My hitting philosophy is pretty simple. I focus just to see the ball and try to get a good pitch."
Well, Sáenz must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too. It was one of his best days ever with the bat.
L. Sáenz doubled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off L. Pérez in the 8th.
This season Sáenz has hit at a .297 clip with 84 RBIs, 10 home runs and 116 runs scored. | | Sunday, September 14th, 2014: Norman Twirls Gothams to Shutout Win The Gothams bested the ValleyCats 7-0 behind the 4-hit pitching of Curt Norman. The New York hurler had 3 strikeouts and 1 walk in going the distance.
This season Norman has made 19 relief appearances with 3 saves. In 80.1 innings he has fanned 29 hitters and recorded 4 wins and 3 losses with a 5.27 ERA. | | Thursday, August 28th, 2014: Ojeda Shuts out ValleyCats Ed Ojeda of the Pittsburgh Pounders shut down the Tri-City ValleyCats 5-0 on a 5-hitter, holding them scoreless while ringing up 3 strikeouts and allowing 1 walk.
After the game Ojeda said, "Guys have been fouling off a lot of pitches lately and I've been getting into too many deep pitch counts, but I'm pleased with the way things went today. I went right after them and stayed ahead in the count."
In 25 starts this season Ojeda has chalked up a 7-12 record and a 4.31 ERA. | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | 3B Shawn Jones | bone chips (elbow) | 3-4 months | On DL, eligible for return (60-day DL) | | P Pat Holt | back spasms | 4 months | On DL, eligible for return (60-day DL) | | C Ollie O'Brien | ruptured disc (back) | 4 weeks | On DL, eligible for return (60-day DL) | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Position in Division | 6th, 49.0 GB | | Record at home | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record on the road | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 0-0, .000 PCT |
