| Breaking News |  | Friday, October 24th, 2014: Portland Beats Lowell in World Series The Portland Beavers were crowned the champions of the Over The Mound today as they put away the Lowell Knights at Snapper Stadium 9-2.
It was the Beavers 3rd time to win it as they finished off the Knights 4-2 in the World Series.
During the Western League Duffy Division regular season Portland put up a 96-66 record and finished first. |  | Monday, September 29th, 2014: Holcomb Cruises to Shutout Zach Holcomb was dynamite today and just blew Woodstock away in the 3-0 victory. The Lowell Knights starter had everything working as he hurled a 1-hit shutout over the Harlequins, recording 6 strikeouts and 4 walks.
"He was pure nasty out there today. I don't think any team in the league would've had a chance against what he was bringing," said the Woodstock skipper during his postgame press conference.
This season Holcomb has a 4-0 record with a 0.52 ERA. |  | Monday, September 22nd, 2014: Sáenz on Fire, 5-6 Against Brooklyn Lyndon Sáenz was on quite a roll today as he knocked the ball all over the park, collecting 5 hits and leading the Knights to a 7-3 victory over the Brooklyn Hoodrats.
After the first three hits, all eyes in the ballpark were drawn to him each time he stepped into the batter's box. Even a few of the opposing fans were pulling for him, knowing they were watching a little baseball-hitting history unfold.
In the clubhouse, crowded by reporters, the Lowell center fielder said, "I never realized that batting a little ball around could cause so much commotion." When asked what the secret of hitting so well is, he smiled and replied, "The key to hitting for a high average is to relax, concentrate and hit the ball where they ain't."
Nobody was at home today as Sáenz finished the day with 5 hits in 6 at-bats and a line in the record book.
L. Sáenz grounded out in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, hit a two-run single in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
