"He was kind of teasing them with his offspeed stuff and his fastball was moving everywhere," the Shoemakersville skipper said after Mal Wood shut out the Akron Jaguars 3-0 on a 4-hit masterpiece.
Wood registered 2 strikeouts and issued no walks in a gem of a performance.
"We just didn't swing the bats very well... or he just pitched good, whichever way you want to look at it," said the Akron manager after the defeat.
In 5 starts this year Wood has crafted a 4-1 record and a 1.26 ERA.

It was a big day with the bat for Chuck Wells of the MacEwen Dragonflies at Dragonflies Stadium as he bashed out hit after hit after hit to defeat Akron 10-5.
To the press after the ballgame he modestly said, "Guys, it's just one game in a long season. I hit it hard and found some holes today. 5 hits in 6 tries. But my hits are not the big thing in the game. The victory is the important thing. That's the story."
At the end of the game Wells had collected 5 hits in 6 at-bats and a small mention in the record book. He was happy. He had a big day with the bat. And the Dragonflies had won.

C. Wells singled in the 1st, walked in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, flied out in the 8th, singled in the 10th and hit a two-run single in the 11th.
