| Breaking News |  | Thursday, January 22nd, 2015: Mudcats Martínez Injured in Off-Field Incident
The Alpena Mudcats told reporters this morning that Lorenzo Martínez has a torn labrum and will be unable to play for 16-17 months while the injury heals. He suffered the injury while playing frisbee in the park.
"It was an unfortunate accident," said the Mudcats public relations director, "Hopefully Lorenzo will soon be back with the club."

The Sub League 2 Outstanding Hitter Award has been picked for 2014 and the honor goes to the talented Alpena Mudcats right fielder Scotty Peterson.
This season he compiled a .368 batting average with 78 hits, 5 doubles, 2 triples and 8 home runs, along with 31 RBIs and 41 runs scored.

Freddy Pérez of the Alpena Mudcats dazzled the Sub League 2 in 2014, stacking up win after win, finishing the season with 10 victories and 1 loss -- numbers good enough to reap the Sub League 2 Outstanding Pitcher Award.
He made 13 starts, hurled 101.1 innings, yielded 76 hits, struck out 60 batters, walked 20 and ended up with a 1.51 ERA. Opposing teams hit .208 against him.
