| Breaking News | | Monday, August 25th, 2014: SL1 Names Best Player
18-year-old Manny Deharo sent shock waves through OTM Rookie League last week with an eye-popping performance that brought him the Sub League 1 Player of the Week Award.
A newcomer to the league, Deharo made the establishment sit up and take notice, punishing opposing pitchers with a .529 average, 9 hits in 17 at-bats, no home runs and 1 RBI.
Where the Glendale T-Birds right fielder goes from here, only the baseball gods know for sure, but Deharo certainly made his mark last week.
This year Deharo has socked 50 hits in 168 at-bats for a .298 average with 1 home run. He is getting on base at a .341 pace and his totals also include 25 RBIs and 10 runs scored.

 | Tuesday, August 5th, 2014: Trevino Bewilders T-Birds in Shutout
In an impressive mound performance, Tony Trevino of the Orlando Bullets checked the Glendale T-Birds on a 3-hitter and held them scoreless.
"He was getting ahead of us and keeping the ball off the plate," said the Glendale manager. "Trevino kept us confused the whole game."
The Orlando hurler rang up 2 strikeouts and issued 1 walk in his 5-0 shutout victory.
Checking out his stats for the season, Trevino has racked up 4 wins and 2 losses in 8 starts, 1.29 ERA and struck out 42 batters in 62.2 innings.

 | Monday, July 21st, 2014: Edgar Castillo Lost for Season
Edgar Castillo has to call it a season. The Glendale T-Birds starting pitcher sustained a season-ending injury against the Milford Snipes and will not play again this year according to club doctors. Castillo was injured while throwing a pitch. His doctors diagnosed it as a fractured elbow and stated that he would not be able to play for 13 months.
Castillo has started 5 times this year, pitched 34.2 innings, fanned 12 batters and walked 4. His current record is 2 wins and 2 losses with a 1.56 ERA.
