Saturday, August 24th, 2030: The news couldn't be any worse -- Toledo doctors told Vern Ewing his baseball career is probably over. The 23-year-old starting pitcher received the harrowing news yesterday. Viceroys team officials were notified that Ewing had suffered irreparable damage and would not recover from a bone spur in his elbow, at least not enough to be able to resume his baseball career.
Since joining the league, Ewing has compiled an ERA of 3.25 with a career record of 12-8. He has 128 strikeouts in 168.2 innings and has held opponents to a .253 batting average. |   |
