At the age of 30, Gus Rowe might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The Portland first baseman put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days collecting the Western League Player of the Week Award.
He racked up 10 hits in 19 at-bats, 4 home runs and 7 RBIs last week in 6 games.
In the 2013 season Rowe is batting .283 with 121 hits and 27 home runs. He has scored 85 times and batted in 92. |

His hard work paid off this week. The hardworking Jerry Hunter was rewarded with the Eastern League Player of the Week honors.
The scrappy Tri-City ValleyCats right fielder hit .455 while collecting 10 hits in 22 at-bats, 2 home runs and 7 RBIs.
This season Hunter is batting .259 with 19 home runs. |

Guelph's 4-1 victory over Helena was highlighted by Lonnie Walker's 300th career home run. His teammates congratulated him at home plate after he circled the bases.
"I didn't see all of them out there," Walker said with a chuckle, "until I rounded third base." He added sheepishly: "It was only a home run. It's not like I won us a World Series!"
In 4 at-bats the Royals third baseman collected 3 hits in his historic game, scored 2 runs, and had 1 RBI.
Walker has played in 1817 games with a .325 lifetime batting average. Among his 2385 hits are 452 doubles, 37 triples and 300 home runs. He also has scored 1179 runs and driven in 1236 runs. |
